Illustration Friday: Bicycle

Tyranosaurus Rex on a bicycle

My submission for Illustration Friday. What do dinosaurs have to do with bicycles? Nothing. I don’t draw nonsensical images often and I want to learn how to draw prehistoric animals…hence the picture you see above. The image above was drawn with an ink brush, and I was looking at some of Bill Watterson’s dinosaurs to get some idea on the inking.

For this picture, I copied other artist’s drawings of t-rexes, and then I later went to the Museum of Natural History to look at and draw the actual skeletons. You can see the “practice sketches” below.

Thank you. There’s not much of a use for those arms otherwise :)

It’s impressive how natural you got a T-Rex’s positioning on the bike to look! I love it.

I’m surprised by it as well. I found an illustration of a t-rex on google where the t-rex was tilted forward and thought the position may work with a bike.

[...] in April, I drew a picture of a t-rex on a bike. I liked my drawing so much that I thought I should submit it as a t-shirt design on Threadless. [...]
