Santo Lilio Sangreis a 200 page book compiling the work of Ayami Kojima, known for creating “Castlevania” art. I’ve been a fan of her work ever since the Castevania game “Symphony of the night” came out. In fact the reason I bought the game was for the cover art. When I saw this book at Kinokuniya, I just grabbed it and ran to the register. Ayami Kojima’s artwork has a shojo manga look, with the way she draws pretty boys and the overlaying of flowers / wings over the figures. However this book is not for little girls. The majority of the pictures have a gothic / macabre theme. It’s not gruesome, but it’s definitely not happy sunshine stuff. There’s 132 pages of color illustrations (all acrylic paintings), the rest is black and white ink illustrations which are for the most part smaller than the paintings.
